From Burnout to Breakthrough: Ms Smith’s Journey with RenewYou

Ms Smith, an executive APS worker, experienced significant psychological distress due to ongoing workplace bullying and harassment. This led her to submit a workers’ compensation claim through Comcare. Ms Smith reported frequent nervousness, panic attacks, and disturbed sleep due to persistent rumination, ultimately rendering her unfit to return to her pre-injury employer.

Given Ms Smith’s declining mental health, ELEV8 Consulting supported her through the RenewYou Program. At the program’s outset, her Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS) scores were:

  • Depression: 30 – Extremely Severe
  • Anxiety: 26 – Extremely Severe
  • Stress: 30 – Severe

Her initial Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ) score was 62 out of 144, categorised as Low, indicating a need for renewal:

  • Hope: 11/36 – Moderate
  • Efficacy: 15/36 – Moderate
  • Resilience: 18/36 – Moderate
  • Optimism: 18/36 – Moderate

Ms Smith underwent eight telehealth sessions of health coaching with our expert Rehabilitation Counsellor, completing reflection activities in her dedicated workbook between sessions.

At the program’s conclusion, her total PCQ score soared to 132 out of 144, marking an overall increase of 70 points, equating to a 48.5% improvement. This remarkable progress places her total score in the ‘Very High’ category, indicating exceptionally positive psychological capital:

  • Hope: 32/36 – Very High
  • Efficacy: 34/36 – Very High
  • Resilience: 32/36 – Very High
  • Optimism: 32/36 – Very High

Her DASS scores also showed significant improvement:

  • Depression: 4 – Normal
  • Anxiety: 6 – Normal
  • Stress: 4 – Normal

The RenewYou Program has profoundly enhanced Ms Smith’s mental health and well-being, highlighting the program’s effectiveness in restoring psychological resilience and overall quality of life.
